A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Ihiagwa, Owerri West Local Government Area, Imo State, Hon Bright Agu, Glamour has called on Gov Hope Uzodinma to seek for second term in 2023.
Hon. Agu who spoke to journalists in Owerri recently, added that he was making the call as a patriotic indigene of the state who is concerned about its progress and sustainable development.
According to him, Gov. Uzodinma has laid strong foundation for the sustainable development of the state in the first three years of his administration and therefore, needed another four years to, enable him complete the many good projects and programmes he initiated this first term.
The Ihiagwa Owerri West born party leader enumerated some of the good works of the governor which he needed time to put finishing touches to, to include numerous major road projects scattered across the three zones of the state.
He listed some of the roads the governor awarded contracts on and which are experiencing good and quality job at the moment to include Owerri/ Orlu Road, Owerri/ Okigwe Road, Naze/ Nekede/ Obinze Road and Naze/ Ogbosisi/ Road Safety Junction, among numerous others across the state.
He praised the governor for his commitment and sincerity towards giving the state durable and global standard road infrastructure, pointing out that the people of Ihiagwa and Owerri West as a whole were grateful to him for remembering the long neglected but critical Naze/Nekede/ Obinze Road, which serves two federal educational institutions.
He added that having performed creditably well in the road sector and many others it is necessary for him to seek a second term in office to complete the good job he is doing.
Hon. Agu stated his preparedness to deploy his energy, time and resources to the second term project of the governor if he decides to run, saying his return back to office will be in the best interest of the state and its citizens.
Hon. Agu who also assessed the just concluded convention of the party in Abuja, awarded full marks to Gov. Uzodinma for the critical role he played.
According to him, the governor chaired a critical committee during the exercise and carried out his duties seamlessly and flawlessly, thus contributing significantly to successful exercise.
He expressed happiness that his boss Senator Adamu Abdullahi emerged as national chairman of the party, pointing out that his victory is the first sign of electoral victory for the party in 2023.
He noted that his confidence that the new the new chairman has the wherewithal to pilot the party to victory stemmed from the fact that he is an experienced veteran politician.
Hon Agu disclosed that Senator Adamu has been in the forefront of supervising and managing elections since the dawn of the present republic in 1999, pointing out that he always delivered on the assignment.
He noted that having carved a niche for himself in winning elections, he was sure he will leverage on his past exploits to pilot APC to victory in 2023.
He lauded him for stepping forward to use his wealth of experience, knowledge and wisdom to pilot the affairs of the party, pointing out that the party is now in good hands with him as national chairman.
The die hard APC chieftain also lauded President Buhari for finding Senator Adamu worthy to pilot the affairs of the party, even as he lauded the fatherly roles he played towards the new chairman’s emergence.
